Tessa White, Founder and Instructor: Tessa White has a BA in Journalism from the University of Oregon, and a MFA in Writing from the University of San Francisco. She spent two years teaching writing with the fabulous after-school writing program, “Take My Word for It!” in five elementary schools in San Francisco. In the fall of 2013, Tessa launched her own writing program called The Writing Club. After two years of teaching her unique program to over 50 kids, Tessa and her family relocated to the Los Angeles area.

In September 2016, Tessa launched The Writing Club Los Angeles. She is currently teaching in two local elementary school’s enrichment programs, as well as offering one-off children’s writing classes at ArtWorks Studio & Classroom in Larchmont Village.


A note on my mission and experience…

Two years ago I launched The Writing Club, a creative writing program for kids. My students ranged as young as second grade up to fifth grade, boys and girls, and from public and private schools in San Francisco. I came away from it feeling great about helping those kids who were tentative about writing, those who needed a confidence booster, and conversely those who loved to write and wanted to spend more time storytelling than the traditional school day offered.
